This former chalet was transformed into an airy house, whereby the volume of the extension was adapted to the positioning of the existing oak trees. The structure is made of steel and finished with black-oiled wooden cladding and a gold anodised facade. Maintaining a holiday feeling, opening up to the garden as much as possible, as well as creating a captivating spaciousness through the expanding roof shape in contrast to the limited ceiling heights of the existing parts. The Enigma project arose from the concept of generating an enigmatic yet active space where limits are blurred through reflections, luminous densities, chiaroscuros and color, so that the experience intensifies and focuses on the enjoyment of the high-end cuisine. The goal was to conceive a new perception of warmth, to achieve a result where material and light co-exist as one single communication. This was accomplished through a central element, the “cloud”. Located in a residential neighborhood and surrounded by conventional houses, this house on a large plot is configured with the idea of a front yard, a large private garden on the east and an internal courtyard.
