Elips Tasarim Mimarlik (Elips Design Architecture)

After attending high school at the DarüşşafakaSchools, FezaÖktenKoca completed both her Bachelor’s in Architecture alongside her Master’s in Building Science at Istanbul Technical University, graduating in 1994 as a Master Architect. She launched into her career whilst still a student, having worked not only for Orhan Çakmakçıoğlu Architecture, the Emlak Bankası Architecture Department, and Can Construction, but also for Percy Thomas Partnership in London, England. In 1999, she founded Elips Design Architecture and devoted herself numerous architectural, interior design, and turn key projects. In 2005, she and Halil Ökten set up a manufacturing warehouse, Elwo Wood. At around that point, she began to specialize both designing and erecting residential and commercial buildings, alongside educational/training facilities. Going beyond merely creating structures and spaces, her sense of architecture aims to shape a whole way of living for the user. She is all about being distinct in her work. She focuses on the user of the space, crafting designs that not only are in harmony with today, but that also seize tomorrow. In wanting to approach design more holistically, Feza ÖktenKoca also began to create furniture as well under the brand FEZA, all the while carrying on with her architectural and interior design projects. Before long, she found herself showcasing her collections at the 2013, 2014, and 2015 Alldesign fairs, Design Week 2017, the Third Istanbul Design Biennial, Tomtom Backtohome, and Designhood 2018. Feza Ökten Kocahas won multiple contests and awards, including the Milan-based A-Design in 2016 for her ‘Boomerang’ chair design (which is part of her most recent FLY Collection) as well as the London-based International Property Awards for Mixed Used Interior for her project ‘BJK No1093’, alongside the Best of Turkey, the Best of Europe, and the Best of World awards, in 2018. Beyond that, she served on the Board of Directors of the Darüşşafaka Society between 2012 and 2017, with whom she still serves onits architectural project committee. She is also lecturer at Istanbul Medipol University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Design, and Architecture.
