In the last three decades, we have designed a number of prestigious projects in India and overseas, all of which have been published. Our Office philosophy of providing a comprehensive design capability and harnessing of new technologies has resulted in innovative and dynamic solutions in the field of Institutional Architecture and Interiors. We are, perhaps, one of the few offices in this country that enjoy an integrated capability of Architectural, Structural, H.V.A.C., Electrical, Mechanical and Interior Designing. This is in keeping with our strong belief that ultimate design solutions cannot be arrived at without the timely amalgamation of all critical services at the initial concept stage itself. It is on the basis of this comprehensive design philosophy adopted by our office that we are, at-present, considered to be the number one office at the National level in the Design of Institutional Buildings, Healthcare Facilities, Research Facilities, Education Facilities, Corporate Office Buildings, Residential Complex & individual units, Hotels, Hospitals and Interiors. Supervision Stage PHILOSOPHY The practice has from its inception attempted to develop a relevant contemporary syntax of Architecture for the sub-continent eulogized by Architecture as a synthesis of ‘Ecology’ and ‘Spirit’. ECOLOGY implies a seamless, cohesive and integrated approach to design. This is achieved through the assembly of a group of highly motivated and evolved specialists in diverse fields drawn from across the world. It is about creating lasting relationships that became so deeply inter-twined that the whole ceases to be a sum of disparate parts and instead becomes a living, breathing organism in itself. SPIRIT implies balance ‘Building art is always the spatial execution of spiritual decisions.’ ‘Architecture and site should have an experiential connection, a metaphysical link and if we consider the order (the Idea) to be the outer perception and phenomena (the Experience) to be the inner perception, then in a physical construction, the outer perception and inner perception are intertwined. Through an ‘ongoing process of ‘Manthan’ or churning the practice has gleaned from the rich historic, cultural and philosophical past (not in a purely literal or generic sense) incorporating the process of continuous change and generating a contemporary design idiom. The firm has won numerous design competitions as well as National and International awards. One of the major achievements of the firm has been to straddle projects with vast diversity from Education, Research, Health-care / Hospitality/ Residential and Institutional whilst Bringing to bear on each one of the above the same guiding principles and process of design. As a corollary in this attempt we have tried to resurrect the Indian Artisan as well cultivate the use of local materials. This is exemplified by our works that incorporate load-bearing brick masonry, stone masonry, exposed concrete and most recently an exhilarating use of structural steel.
