Founded in 1963, Wong Tung made its mark internationally in late 1960s with their groundbreaking projects, such as Mei Foo Sun Chuen, Taikoo Shing, and Chi Fu Fa Yuen, revolutionized large-scale community development in Hong Kong. Their portfolio extends beyond residential projects to include iconic landmarks such as the Re-development of Hong Kong University (Phase One), the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern District Hospital and Hong Kong Park.
Expanding internationally, Wong Tung opened offices in Dallas and Atlanta in the early 70s, where they completed notable projects like the Medical City in Dallas and the Atlanta Hilton Hotel and Office Building Complex. In the 80s, they ventured into Mainland China, establishing branches in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chongqing. Their Grade A Design Institute in China, Wong Tung (Beijing) Architects Company Limited, offers comprehensive services for Mainland projects.
Wong Tung continues to make waves with recent projects in Hong Kong, including the Transport Department Vehicle Examination Complex- the first multi-storey vehicle examination centre in Hong Kong, Grand Central – the largest urban renewal project, and Advanced Manufacturing Centre - a pioneer in Industry 4.0, The HKUST Shaw Auditorium and the impressive Kai Tak Cruise Terminal - accommodating the largest cruise liners. They also made their mark in Mainland China with super high- rise projects and the more recent ones are Changsha IFS (17 th tallest building in the World), Suzhou IFS (20 th tallest building in the World), Chongqing IFS, Shenyang Forum 66 and Yantai Shimao No.1 The Harbour, as well as notable retail developments such as Zhengzhou Kaixuan Plaza, Shanghai Nanxiang Incity Mega, Shanghai Hall of the Sun and luxury resort withentertainment centre -MGM Cotai, Macau (Asia’s first dynamic theatre and the record holder for the largest free-span grid shell self-supporting glazed roof in Guinness World Record)
