This compact cluster of homes (block 126 i B) is beautifully located on the Barkentijnkade Amsterdam directly on the IJmeer. This is a collective private commission to build seven energy neutral homes (zero on the meter homes).

The houses have an outdoor space that is solved in or on the building envelope. Every house has an outdoor space on the roof. A number of houses also have small outdoor spaces in the form of a narrow balcony. Parking is solved in the building volume. There is a difference in level due to the dike on the quay, which gives each house a different layout.

The clients all have different wishes and how and where people live. The municipality has set requirements for the uniformity of the building. That is why it was decided to create a strict pattern of vertical and horizontal masonry bands, which allows for exceptions per home. For example, the floors behind these facade bands and the beech dimensions of each house are different.
