In its most common meaning of the Italian language, ripa is that extreme part of land that borders a watercourse and in a literary or regional sense, can indicate a steep wall, a sheer escarpment.

The urban regeneration of the town of Ripoli Santa Maria Maddalena consists in a series of interventions to improve the livability, accessibility and quality of the public space, through strategic actions that are the result of a participatory process with citizens that has allowed to strengthen the sense of community and to collect considerations and proposals to redevelop the town.

The interventions aim to represent the community and to recover the function of places characterized by social use, both as physical emblems of citizenship and as areas where you can stop and spend time, combining liveability and mobility needs, improving urban quality and guaranteeing a high level of use and a correct enhancement of the territory.

The participatory project has developed around the idea of a society that finds its aggregative values in open and meeting spaces and that identifies in the Landscape the element of union between past and future, allowing a local reality to rethink itself, welding to its own history through the cultural activation of a collective memory that concerns resident inhabitants and visitors alike.

Even the choice of finishes is closely linked to the local context and the natural environment, here in fact the sandstone represents an exclusive building material, which has given work to stonecutters since the Middle Ages, and which, combined with galvanized steel, to Accoya wood and concrete, it returns a contemporary design, emphasizing the dialogue between tradition and innovation
