Anchored in the Landscape Marhûs is anchored in its context—both in name and in form. The name Marhûs comes from the Frisian language, in which "Mar" means lake and "hûs" signifies dwelling or house. Marhûs can be understood to mean lake house, referring to a home located nearby a lake. Positioned on the edge of a lake, the design expresses a continuous dialogue between architecture, landscape and space. The site—framed by two small harbors, a garden with mature trees, a reed-fringed quay, and a long jetty—opens up to expansive panoramic views across the water. Friscanzana house is a country mansion harmoniously placed in the network of  stone walls and typical paths in the countryside surrounding the Sicilian town of Ragusa. The objective of this project was to create a unique, original, and distinctive space within the lobby of the newly constructed building, The Form. Its shape and name, combined into a cohesive identity concept, served as a starting point for an exploration of form as an expressive element, shaping the visual character of the space. This warm climate country house, completely open and integrated into the landscape, adapts to the inclination of the land through different levels and terraces whose staggered volumes are attached to circulations projected to a large open central patio where a pool and jacuzzi are located.
