Wasa Student Village
The area of Sloterdijk, west of the city centre of Amsterdam, is undergoing a radical transformation. As a result of the 2008 financial crisis this initially mono-functional office area suffered high rates of vacancy. The lack of housing and public amenities lead to a decay of the environment as a whole. Reacting to the housing shortage crisis, the city of Amsterdam formulated a new zoning plan transforming vacant office buildings into short-stay apartments and allowing for additional 1,500 to 2,000 new dwellings to be built.

Concrete and MOOS complete sustainable and modular social housing project
Het Amsterdamse bureau Concrete, een multidisciplinaire interieur- en architectuurstudio, is een samenwerking aangegaan met MOOS, een innovatief woonconcept dat het wijdverbreide tekort aan woningen in heel Nederland op een verantwoorde, betaalbare en schaalbare manier wil aanpakken. MOOS - een acroniem dat staat voor "In the Middle Of Our Street" uit "Our House" van de Engelse band Madness - bouwt duurzame, hoogwaardige, gemeenschapsgerichte woningen met behulp van een geprefabriceerd systeem dat volledig demontabel is. Concrete en MOOS werken samen sinds de lancering van MOOS in 2020 en hebben net MOOS Euterpe opgeleverd, het eerste duurzame en modulaire project dat volledig door MOOS is gerealiseerd.

Delavegacanolasso designs a modular house among pine trees in Madrid
Bij het ontwerp van Fresnos (vertaald als As) heeft de Madrileense architectuurstudio Delavegacanolasso zich ten doel gesteld om "een eenvoudig en aangenaam huis" te creëren, omringd door de natuur. De omvang van het project werd bepaald door de ruige omgeving: een glooiend terrein met een overvloed aan pijnbomen en steeneiken. De studio plaatste het huis op een natuurlijke open plek tussen de dennen - verborgen van de weg, maar open naar het bos, veranderde de ontwikkeling zo weinig mogelijk van het terrein.

NO crafts a temporary modular housing solution for inaccessible sites using local materials

The Wasp Nest universal unit can be used as an accommodation for one person, a hotel room, an individual office, a pet house or a house for street animals in reduced form. Units can be installed anywhere either separately or as complexes of whatever size and form.

BIG designs spiral-shaped modular housing as a part of the master plan of NYE, Denmark
Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) recently completed Sneglehusene, a modular housing complex conceived as a part of the master plan of NYE, an upcoming neighbourhood north of Aarhus, Denmark.
