Today OMA participated in the official construction completion ceremony for the China Central Television (CCTV) Headquarters in Beijing, which will start to be used later this year. Designed by OMA as a reinvention of the skyscraper as a loop, construction on the building began in 2004. The Galaxy SOHO project in central Beijing for SOHO China is a 330 000m2 office, retail and entertainment complex that will become an integral part of the living city, inspired by the grand scale of Beijing. Its architecture is a composition of five continuous, flowing volumes that are set apart, fused or linked by stretched bridges. De tien verdiepingen hoge studententoren Blok 1 is door zijn zelfstandige positie een blikvanger voor de omgeving en baken van vernieuwing voor de wijk Presikhaaf. Het solitaire karakter wordt versterkt door de alzijdige oriëntatie en compositie van de gevel. Door de verspringingen en de hoeveelheid ramen lijkt het gebouw groter dan het werkelijk is. Tevens is door de variatie in vensters geen van de studentenkamers hetzelfde.De gevelplaten hebben een onderling verschil van afwerkingsstuctuur waardoor een subtiel patroon is ontstaan.
