Operational Emissions / Energy

Energy concept

  • Energy efficiency: The InnoDom is designed for minimal energy consumption, with a high-grade facade, energy-efficient technology, a heat recovery system, and low thermal bridging.
  • Energy source: The InnoDom utilises a remote heating/cooling network and electricity supplied by mf-Energie GmbH using the university teaching hospital grid.
  • Energy consumption: The InnoDom’s primary energy requirement is approximately half of the requirement for energy performance certification.
  • Ground-floor cooling: Base-load cooling via underfloor cooling, with peak load coverage and personal settings through ceiling-mounted radiant cooling profiles.
  • Ground-floor heating: Provided by underfloor heating.
  • Upper floor cooling and heating: Basic cooling via concrete core temperature conditioning, with heating through concrete core temperature conditioning and ceiling-mounted heating panels.

Facade

  • Glazed elements can be partially opened for additional ventilation and to allow smoke to escape.
  • Textile sun-shading, controlled by a zip, is positioned on the outside of the building, between the pilaster strips and the mullion/transom structure.
  • The curtain facade can be dismantled and its materials reused or recycled. No composite materials were used.

Materials

  • Troldtekt cement-bonded wood wool panels were used for the core (C2C and GSBC certified).
  • NoraPlan rubber was used on the upper floors (GSBC, Blauer Engel).
  • Ligno wood acoustic cladding for the homebases (natureplus certification).
  • Recyclable outdoor furniture from Fermob.
  • The office fit-out predominantly uses steel, wood, linoleum, and fabrics, which can be recycled or contain a significant proportion of recycled materials, such as PET felt.
