Sustainability Report
Embodied carbon
The primary embodied carbon strategy focused on structural optimization and minimizing high-carbon material use:
-
Structural Efficiency: Adopting an irregular construction pattern and the principle of "light" quantification to minimize structural volumes. This directly reduces the use of key carbon-emitting raw materials such as concrete and steel.
-
Facade Material: The unitized facade utilizes materials like double-layer fluorocarbon-coated aluminum panels and anodized aluminum brackets, chosen for performance.
Operational Emissions / Energy
Operational strategies are centered on envelope performance, passive shading, and mitigating the urban heat island effect:
-
High-Performance Envelope: The transparent units exceed the highest requirements of China’s current green building standards for performance.
-
Solar Heat Mitigation (Shading): The tower trellis is meticulously designed with varying depths (250-, 350-, 450-, and 850-millimeter spacing) to simulate Beijing's northwest sunlight conditions. This configuration ensures the best shading effect, significantly mitigating Beijing's severe summer sun exposure issues and reducing cooling demand.
-
Heat Island Effect Reduction:
-
Green Roof: The podium roof incorporates approximately 50% green coverage (exceeding 600-millimeter depth) using plants and soil as optimal insulation materials.
-
Wind Corridor: The streamlined profile of the underground commercial plaza acts as a wind corridor for the entire community, facilitating natural wind exchange and mitigating heat-island effects.
-
-
Air Cavity Design: Opaque spandrel units have an air cavity behind the metal cladding, allowing natural airflow to significantly reduce radiant heat accumulation.
Service and maintenance emissions
The VMU (Visual Mock-Up) system promotes a circular economy through enhanced maintainability. This removable and reusable system, applied to a section of the curtain-wall design, employs near-standardized nodes for simplified assembly and disassembly. This significantly reduces design coordination, communication costs, and material waste from repeated mock-ups. Furthermore, the inherent durability and reliability of this unitized facade system translates to reduced long-term maintenance needs compared to stick-built systems.
Afterlife
The podium features a flexible, modular grid system for the shared workplace, allowing easy sub-division or combination of office units. The design optimizes GLA configurations for long-term compatibility with diverse enterprises. The underground plaza's permeable design and ground-level connections ensure its vibrancy and usability.
A key innovation is the removable and reusable VMU facade system. Special detailing facilitates easy assembly and disassembly, promoting a circular economy by preserving material value.
