Afterlife
Disassemblable Elements for Circular Economy
As urbanization accelerates in China, many old, non-industrialized timbers are being discarded. This project seeks to give these high-quality materials a second life. We sourced reclaimed wood locally, selecting pieces that best fit the site to reduce reprocessing and waste. Most woodwork was prefabricated by local craftsmen familiar with aged timber, then assembled on-site.
A simple, direct construction method minimized waste and allowed the wood to retain its raw character—making it easier to reuse in future cycles.
