Early Yuyen was realised through a circular economy framework guided by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Butterfly Diagram with a strong emphasis on design for disassembly. Almost all material elements were retained, repurposed, recycled or refurbished rather than newly manufactured, including salvaged structural components and furniture, reclaimed windows and door frames, and decorative terrazzo.

Afterlife

Disassemblable Elements for Circular Economy

The project was designed for disassembly, with structural elements installed using mechanical fixings rather than permanent adhesives. This modular approach allows the layout to be reconfigured for future programs while other materials can be recycled or repurposed.
