Embodied carbon
Efficient
In addition to achieving its BREEAM certification, the Istituto Marangoni Paris fulfils France’s HQE (Qualité Environnementale) and RE 2020 standards.
- HQE focuses on the building’s overall quality of life, balancing energy, comfort, and health.
- RE 2020 ensures the campus complies with the latest French regulations for low-carbon, energy-efficient construction. This places a strong emphasis on life-cycle impact and climate resilience.
Seventy percent of the project uses prefabricated construction materials.
Operational Emissions / Energy
Low Carbon
The design maximises the use of natural daylight and ventilation to improve comfort, reducing mechanical energy demand.
A rainwater harvesting system supplies water to irrigate the landscaped courtyard.
The extensive green roof increases insulation, improves air quality and carbon sequestration, contributes to stormwater management, and promotes biodiversity.
Afterlife
Adaptive Reuse and Flexible Design Considerations
The project is designed for adaptive re-use — a pre-dimensioned structural grid allows for a future rooftop extension.
