Embodied carbon
Carbon emissions and capture were considered through the use of renewable and natural materials (timber, CLT, thermally modified timber, marmoleum, ReForm Transition flooring, bio-laminate). All building areas, including offices, communal spaces, and the distribution centre, are included in the sustainability approach.
Afterlife
The office layout is flexible, supporting multiple work styles and movable furniture rather than fixed desks, indicating a structure that could adapt to future program changes. The choice of timber and CLT also supports potential structural flexibility.
Building elements such as timber framework, CLT panels, and modular interior finishes can be disassembled and reused, supporting circularity. The Bever repair centre demonstrates circular practices in action.
