Embodied carbon
No embodied carbon assessment (LCA) was required for this building category. The evaluation focused on envelope insulation, HVAC efficiency, and lighting energy consumption.
Operational Emissions / Energy
The project received official Energy Performance Certification from the Korea Environment & Architecture Institute and passed the Seoul Green Building Design Review under the Green Building Promotion Act.
The approved Energy Saving Design Review achieved an Energy Performance Index (EPI) of 75.2 with a primary energy demand of approximately 75.2 kWh/m²·year.
Service and maintenance emissions
Afterlife
The open-plan structure and dual-tower layout allow flexible adaptation for future uses such as offices, retail, or cultural programs. The building also employs passive design strategies through optimized daylight orientation, natural ventilation via dual openings, and landscaped courtyards that regulate the microclimate.
Several components, such as Schüco window and door systems, interior partitions, and stone louvers, are mechanically fixed rather than permanently bonded, allowing them to be disassembled, reused, or recycled with minimal waste. These features enhance the building’s circularity and enable efficient maintenance or future adaptive reuse.
