Afterlife
The project is designed with long-term adaptability in mind. A clear structural grid, neutral floor plans, and non-load-bearing internal partitions allow spaces to be reconfigured for future uses such as community, cultural, educational, or small-scale commercial functions. Building services are organized to support future program changes with minimal intervention.
The project prioritizes dismantlable and reusable elements. The timber structure is designed as a re-usable system, with components that can be disassembled and reassembled or re-purposed. A modular bamboo-wattle railing system is used so parts can be replaced individually and reinstalled elsewhere. For the ground, brick paving adopts a low-cement permeable bedding, which reduces rigid bonding and makes lifting, repair, and future replacement easier. In addition, materials from existing buildings on site are salvaged and reused where possible, reducing waste and extending the lifecycle of original components.
