Sustainability Report

Embodied carbon

Low Carbon
176
lbs CO₂-eq./sq.ft.

We placed the REVIT model into CoveTool software and adjusted the model components to work with the software analysis in order to calculate carbon emissions and carbon capture. All parts of the building are included.

Operational Emissions / Energy

Low Carbon
1.66
kg CO₂e/m²

A ground source heat pump combined with hydronic radiant floors was used to heat and cool the house in a very efficient way. Heat recovery ventilators, operable triple-pane windows/ exterior doors, and superior insulation help temper the interior environment. Thermal mass concrete walls and concrete topping slab floors capture and store both passive and active energy while large roof overhangs control solar gain.

Service and maintenance emissions

Low Carbon

Maintenance was reduced with the use of rusted steel siding and powder coated steel fascia and flashings. Plus exposed concrete walls, aluminum-clad wood windows, and powder coated steel trellis require little maintenance.

Afterlife

The post and beam structure allows a lot of flexibility in the future renovation and or remodeling of the house.

The steel siding & fascia, windows, doors, wood ceilings, glu-lam columns & beams, and wood frame construction materials are all easily removed, reused, and or recycled. The appliances, LED light fixtures, door & cabinet hardware, plumbing fixtures and fittings can be reused. The EPDM roof membrane is recyclable.
