Adaptive Reuse and Flexible Design Considerations
The design replaces the compartmentalised residential partitions with open, adaptable floor centred around the atrium. This flexible structural configuration allows the layout to be easily reconfigured or partitioned over time for different civic, cultural, or administrative uses without requiring structural interventions.
Disassemblable Elements for Circular Economy
The new components are executed entirely with dry-construction, pairing a lightweight steel frame with cross-laminated timber (CLT) slabs. Using mechanical, dry-joint connections rather than wet trades allows these components to be easily disassembled at the end of the building's lifecycle for recovery and reuse.
