Efficient
The house uses several passive strategies to reduce operational energy demand. Its narrow floor plates, carefully positioned windows and operable transoms enable cross-ventilation and passive cooling. Recycled brick provides thermal mass, helping moderate internal temperatures and reduce the need for mechanical heating and cooling. A PV array generates renewable energy on site, further reducing reliance on grid electricity.
Service and maintenance emissions
The project utilises durable, robust materials intended to age naturally, including pre-aged timber and recycled brick, that reduce the need for refinishing, replacement and ongoing maintenance.
