The project retains and adapts the existing building, incorporates the original hardwood roof structure into the interior, and reuses hardwood from the removed roof trusses to make new windows. The architectural drawings submitted to council also document new roof sheeting and insulation, glazed skylights, a 37 kW solar PV system and rainwater tanks.

Afterlife

Adaptive Reuse and Flexible Design Considerations

The project is intended as a flexible community hub rather than a single-purpose library. Its spaces accommodate library services alongside community programs, allowing the building to adapt to changing needs without major reconstruction.
