Afterlife
Yes. La Tuilerie follows a “doing more with less” approach, using standard, readily available and durable materials rather than bespoke solutions. This simplicity facilitates maintenance, replacement and, where construction methods allow, future dismantling and reuse.
Galvanised steel is particularly suited to this approach, as it is durable, requires minimal additional finishing, and can be recovered and recycled. Terracotta and brick are also used as robust, distinct material elements, allowing individual components to be maintained or replaced over time.
Although the project was not specifically designed for complete disassembly, its use of standardised, durable and minimally finished materials supports the principles of reuse, recovery and recycling within a circular economy.
