Embodied carbon
Efficient
Museum VONK uses bio-based materials: hemp-lime facade panels, a timber structure and reused CLT, which reduced embodied carbon compared with conventional construction.
Operational Emissions / Energy
Efficient
Passive design strategies include high-level natural ventilation hatches (“gills”) that remain open for most of the year, reducing reliance on mechanical ventilation. The building uses mechanical heating and cooling only when outdoor temperatures require it. The green roof, daylight access and efficient building services may further reduce energy demand.
Service and maintenance emissions

Afterlife
Disassemblable Elements for Circular Economy
The project incorporates circular principles through the reuse of CLT panels from the earlier Biobasecamp pavilion and the use of prefabricated timber and hemp-lime facade elements.
