Nearly zero-energy building
The new Bonfiglioli HQ is conceived as a nearly zero-energy building (NZEB), with exceptionally high energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions.
Schüco Italia provided tailored aluminium systems to meet the project's unique architectural and performance requirements:
- Schüco AWS 114 SG.SI: Project-out aluminium windows designed for integration into structural glazing facades, offering high thermal insulation and a sleek, frameless appearance.
- Schüco AWS 75 BS: Tilt-and-turn aluminium windows featuring a block system design, which conceals the sash within the frame, allowing for increased natural light penetration and a minimalist aesthetic.
- Schüco FWS 60 and FWS 60 SG Custom: Mullion-transom facade systems, including a custom structural glazing variant, developed to ensure thermal performance, accommodate building movements, and maintain a uniform, glass-dominated exterior.
The design and laboratory work for this project took 629 hours, resulting in six new system codes. The aluminium profiles were finished in oxidised black, enhancing the building’s sophisticated and innovative appearance.

These contributed to the building's NZEB status.
Energy efficiency measures include:
- A photovoltaic plant with 3 MW peak power, installed on building roofs and car park awnings.
- Geothermal heat pumps and radiant ceilings.
- A central open-air atrium enhancing natural ventilation
Bonfiglioli’s EVO project includes 45,000 square metres of landscaped areas and 350 newly planted trees.
Afterlife
The building’s steel exoskeleton facade facilitates column-free open-plan interiors. This structural approach allows for flexible interior configurations, enabling future adaption to evolving needs without significant structural alterations.
