Located in Breda (Netherlands), the new BDO office stands as a benchmark in sustainable workplace design. Designed by RIENKS Architects, this 2,550 m² building was conceived from the outset with sustainability at its core — achieving a GPR score of 8.5 and an energy-neutral profile.

ULMA contributed to the envelope of the building with its ventilated facade system using Stoneo panels, offering both energy efficiency and a refined visual identity.

Sustainable Architecture with Stoneo
The Stoneo ventilated facade system was chosen for its thermal and acoustic performance, ease of installation, and aesthetic versatility. Behind the cladding, an air cavity boosts energy efficiency while protecting the structure and extending its lifespan.

The panels used in this project feature a paper-like texture (Stoneo Look Papel, colour P29), creating a minimalist, monolithic look with subtle shadow effects. Their composition—over 92% natural aggregates and recycled materials—ensures a low environmental impact, while their almost zero water absorption (0.1%) delivers long-term durability with minimal maintenance.
A Modern Envelope with Natural Impact
This project showcases how modern office buildings can merge aesthetic clarity with high-performance construction. The use of cross-laminated timber (CLT) for the structure and Stoneo panels for the façade makes BDO Breda a true symbol of eco-conscious architecture.
