The house is situated on a narrow lot amidst a spectrum of 1950’s era beach bungalows and an eclectic mix of freshly minted estates. The concept for this home originated from a desire to generate a timeless balance between the vernacular of mid-century California beach architecture and contemporary sensibilities towards sustainable materials, function, vistas and natural light. In Aspen’s historic West End neighborhood, a classic 1890s Victorian-Era home is carefully restored to its original form after years of non-historic additions and renovations.  The Victorian is stabilized and reinforced, renovated, and linked to a contemporary addition and newly excavated lower-level basement. This one-story house with a flat roof is situated in Thailand. The interior of the house features an open-plan living room that integrates the kitchen and dining area. Moreover, it contains a master bedroom, a guest bedroom, and a study room. Designed for an artist and an engineer, the residence is located mid-block in a downtown neighborhood surrounded by common Seattle cottages and bungalows. The design brief called for a work studio central to the layout of the house, ample white walls for a growing art collection, a strong connection to the gardens and to the life of the street, and lots of natural light. The grounds of the Waldorf School in Prenzlauer Berg possess a unique urban positioning between socialist prefabricated structures, Wilhelminian style blocks and the green spaces of the Jewish cemetery. The school building, having undergone a spirited renovation process, is a 5-storey prefab building from the 1970s.The after-school care centre and later extensions were designed in a completely different style. The new centre docks on the school’s courtyard stretching towards the sports hall, providing the schoolyard with a structural back to the street and a clear centre. The small house was designed and crafted for an eminent author and professor of Native American Studies. After losing her husband a few years ago, the Professor decided to downsize from a 3200 square foot house to something smaller. The final design is a little over 1600 heated square feet, which is about half of what she used to live in and about 1000 square feet less than the average American house of 2500 square feet.  The final design includes:​   Design for aging in place, with zero thresholds from the entry bridge to the curdles showers inside.​  A small garage with an electric car charging station.​  An ample open living and dining great room with soaring clerestory windows and f... During the renovation of one of the oldest small townhouses of the Marollen, the most charming popular neighbourhood in Brussels, the architect and the owner wanted to make efficient use of the limited space and create an outer space. Thanks to the DXW walkable flat roof window that was installed on the flat roof, the whole of the flat roof, which had been transformed into a terrace, could be used. On top of that, the living space and kitchen, situated below the flat roof, got flooded in natural light. The project was finished during the summer of 2017. More
