Design that stems from the wood, outward.Alex Banner is a woodworker and builder who trained in cabinetry studios in California after studying sculpture at San Francisco State University. In 2008, Alex moved to New York City, where he launched Wishbone Woodworking, a custom cabinetry firm that serves many high-profile clients.
Alex’s obsession is making pieces that seem simple until a closer look. Investigating the details of their construction reveals hidden complexities that reward the repeated routines of daily life. He launched Banner studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, in 2013, to expand his creative practice designing and building original furniture lines.
Tina Banner grew up in her parents’ antiques business, surrounded by nautical furniture. She studied fine art in San Francisco and later became the studio manager of a collaborative printmaking workshop in New York City, working to produce prints with dozens of acclaimed artists.
As a designer at Banner, Tina collaborates with Alex to create new pieces for the studio.
