In 1996, a company called Mi-pol based in Kladno, Czech Republic decided to develop a new and unique artificial stone. First they focused on its optical characteristics and new possibilities of usage. Later, a team led by company owner Michal Poljakov in cooperation with chemical engineer Ivan Fučík came up with a new casting technology.
