Our Origins Founded in 1976 by Stan Oster, a graduate mechanical engineer, Mirart made its debut in the glass business. Stan was unable to find properly sized glass plates for decorative use on light switches. Deciding to make them on his own, he began manufacturing these plates from the back room of his glass shop. We were an instant hit and Stan quickly became overwhelmed by demands for these switches from other glass and mirror companies. Wanting to stay in high demand, he expanded into manufacturing a variety of acrylic mirrored products…Mirart was born and the team grew. Our Expansion In 1986, Mirart became a family business when Stan’s son, Jeff, joined the ranks. We continued to grow by adding mirror plates, air conditioning grills, donuts (trim rings), and shelf brackets into the mix. Next, we introduced self-stick mirror products, knobs, handles and bath accessories that require no screw holes for installation: A mirror installer’s dream come true! In addition to the products our team developed specifically for the mirror industry, we also carry a full line of tools and shop supplies as well as became an authorized Makita and Bosch power tool distributor. Bursting at the seams, we had to find a new home to accommodate more sales, more employees and more inventory. We found a 35,000 square foot facility at 2707 Gateway Drive in Pompano Beach, Florida that could contain everything under one room. More Ideas In 1996, Mirart purchased the designs of a major acrylic furniture manufacturer. By improving on the styling, construction and using the finest acrylic (Polycast); these products sell as quickly as can be manufactured. Why Polycast? It allows us to guarantee our furniture products against yellowing for 10 years! Interior designers are ecstatic over our capability to produce ANY custom design. That we offer large production runs to achieve real cost savings is icing on the cake. With these innovations, Mirart proudly holds several U.S. patents for tools, machinery and equipment developed for the glass and mirror industry. What’s more, we hold nine (9) patents and ten (10) Trademarks that include: Stonique®, Granique®, GlassAlike®, Hide-A-Plate®, Swivel Drill®, Grip-Strip™, Drymistat®, Mirror Wacker™, Freez-it Spray™, and Demasticator™.
