Menzione d'Onore - XXVI Compasso d'Oro ADI 2020
The Intreccio sink designed by Paolo Ulian has obtained the Certificate of Honor.
antoniolupi is proud to announce that the INTRECCIO sink, a harmonious synthesis between nature and technology, was awarded the prestigious Certificate of Honor at the XXVI Compasso d'Oro ADI awards ceremony held on September 9th 2020 in Milan.
Intreccio, designed by Paolo Ulian, is the ultra-light marble sink weighing only 55 kg, born from a block of marble measuring only 11 cm in which the cuts are optimized to obtain the concentric rings which give life to a three-dimensional volume.
The numerical control processing technology allows to obtain very thin concentric and light layers that are superimposed staggered. These proceed upwards to determine a play of light and shade and full and empty obtained solely by the variation of light on the concave or convex shapes.
Intreccio is an eco-sustainable sink as the technology used for its manufacturing allows for a drastic reduction of raw material waste.
The Compasso d'Oro Award, established in 1954 reaches its XXVI edition, and is the oldest but especially the most authoritative world design award. Born from an idea of Gio Ponti and organized for years by the Rinascente department stores in order to highlight the value and quality of Italian designed products. Later the Prize was donated to ADI, Association for Industrial Design, which has been organizing it since 1958.
Over 300 projects awarded in more than fifty years, together with about two thousand selected with a Certificate of Honor. The awarded products and those marked with the certificate become part of the historical collection of the Compasso d'Oro, enriching a cultural heritage of recognized national interest.
