With the approval from the cabinet of the Royal Thai Government, AFS International Intercultural Program has been in Thailand for more than a half century, The program alumnus also have been such significant driven forces among Thailand economic and culture. And the admission to the program has become highly competitive. However this is the first time in history to house the organization in one single campus.The given site is a rather irregular rectangle shape with a canal runs parallel to the front and the high voltage electrical line slices across the land plot. Leaving the plot to the trapezoidal triangle.

The program called for three individual functions: the workspace, assembly hall and staff community center. Since they operate on slightly different schedule, the workplace and the assembly hall need to be highly accessible form the front, they, two have to stand together.

Apart from the practical function, we are trying to pursue the quality of the place to express the sense of future and clarity through form and space.

Here, Triangular module is the perfect complementfor the master planning, given that the form of the auditorium is tilted to leave the visual access to headquarter.

Auditorium

The accent line of the fan shape roof and the Lampang Thai white hexagonal ceramic tile also embrace the sense of heritage history. While pre function atrium is filled with natural light before getting into a hexagonal shape hall, which can also be divided to three separate functions. 

The Headquarter

Triangle plan is formed by three simple rectangle slabs with the service core at the corner and natural lit triangle void at the center of the plan. The void is where the main circulation take place, the glaze elevator, the connecting staircase and triangle corridor. Together they give the sense of openness, unity and lively at the same time. While the triangle façade is simply wrapped around with the vertical shading device giving the proper natural lighting for working space.

Together they mark the history of AFS and look forward into the future with courage and elegance.
