A renovation project of the church prayer hall accomodating a crowd of 50 people. The ideology of the prayer hall design is to form a divine space by incorporating a few design elements like the symbolism of doors open to heaven, the spatiality of expressing Christ as light. Hence, we adapted the themes with Loving God.
The building is managed through its interior: The inside space of the prayer hall which is logically the most important of the project has given it its character and its “soul”. Successive great interior space was the strategy. The source of lighting to this space located in the basement enters through the foyer space of the prayer hall. The grand staircase to the prayer hall gives a feeling of getting immersed in the divinity created by the space.
The richness of the prayer room is well balanced throughout the walls and the flooring. The geometrical patterns on the flooring as well as on the wall make the space more vibrant. The brown and beige color marble is being used in the entire space. In order to break the monotony of the same material being used in a small space, the laying of marble is done by skilled labor in different laying patterns. The leftover marble pieces in the site were also used in the entrance wall sides in an innovative way.
The picture of the mary at the focal point of the staircase is made of broken tile pieces assembled in such a way that they form an interesting design. As we enter the prayer hall the sacrament is kept at the prime focus with a red cushioned background with accent lighting, giving a glorious look in the prayer room. The lights used in the prayer room are the same in both day and night thus the ambiance and aesthetic sense of the space is not getting disturbed by the natural lighting, so the purpose of the space is resolved here itself to the fullest
