Augustenborg Palace is one of Denmarks most beautiful and historic castles.
The Palace has been restored and transformed into 300 functional, flexible and modern office workplaces for the Danish Agriculture and Fisheries Agencies. The aesthetics of the castle, its classic, pure style is sought preserved, and the integration of modern installations such as ventilation, electrical installations and elevators are carried out with the greatest respect and care.
In the transformation into a modern office workspace, the palaces existing frame should remain as intact as possible by only adding a few new elements. Two main stairs have been restored and new lighting and durable carpets installed. Kitchenettes, common spaces and meeting rooms, new toilets and a total of 27 open, multi-user office rooms has been established.
Only solid and durable materials have been used. Brass was chosen for lamps, faucets and ventilation grilles, as well as for the electrical outlets and signage and other new building elements.
Augustenborg Palace was built in the years 1770-76 and in recent years the palace has functioned as a psychiatric hospital. The palace is listed, and thus the restoration was carried out in accordance with an approved plan from the Agency for Culture and Palaces.
