This fast food gourmet is located in a corner shop in Barcelona’s Ensanche, a two-storey space with a grand façade that provides a view of the whole inside of the shop from the street. The new concept of the restaurant: Butifarras cooked in the wood-fired oven, a sort of sausage that is traditionally Catalan, seeks to transmit both quality and tradition using a casual and familiar style that situates the restaurant in the range of economical, fast-food and take-away restaurants. The kitchen is located on the main façade, showing at all times the raw material and its preparation process emphasizing the quality of the product.

On the ground floor is the order bar. This is understood as a large solid piece of tiles that were specially designed for this project using the traditional method. These tiles refer to Catalan tradition, their shape and pattern is the one that was traditionally used in the kitchens of the farmhouses, but it is also reinvented by replacing the original colour by a brown colour in order to strengthen the identity of the restaurant and to highlight the link between the sausage and the earth. The same ceramic piece is extended to the bar and rises to the second floor through a column, generating a coherence of form.

The other main material is natural iron. The staircase made of iron plate is a distinctive item which reminds us of the cooking process of the sausages while at the same time, this material allows us to create a light staircase that frees up space in a space of limited dimensions. The other materials used are concrete and natural wood. Both raw and robust materials have just given the local identity, a place that transports us inside the kitchen of the Catalan farmhouse. Finally, to compensate for the robustness and density of the materials used we have designed hanging lamps inspired by the shape of the sausage. These lamps provide the restaurant with a fantastic and oniric touch.
