This study is a small-scale cinematographic complex of FLIK Cinemas, which has only 178 total seats in a four screen cinemas. In order to offer the customer a special viewing experience and a different approach, perhaps more amusing than the classic cinema complexes, it was decided to reduce the number of seats from 230 initially to 178, by converting them from classic cinema seats to vip and platinum seats. The study had a great deal of difficulty for two reasons, for the particular location of the cinema on the upper floor of the existing Lagoona Mall in Doha and for the fact that above the two of the four screen cinemas there was an existing swimming pool and a pool deck for the public. The great challenge in this project was the waterproofing and acoustic insulation between the pool deck and the cinema below, the electromechanical equipment installation because of the space needed and the fact that we didn’t have enough space to accommodate the projection booth. The pioneering decision to use a booth less projection system in the cinemas interior was the reason why all the difficulties were easily overcome. This meant to be the Qatar’s first branch of the Flik Cinemas chain introducing themselves to the public with a new, high-end design & comfort cinema.
