Parc 1, Yeouido

Parc 1 will be a significant mixed-use centre in Seoul, South Korea. The development comprises a major retail mall, two landmark office towers and a five star luxury hotel. The 4.6-hectare site is located on Yeouido Island, one of Seoul’s three designated central business districts. The site is in the heart of the district, adjacent to Yeouido Park and the Han River. It is one of the few remaining sites in this area available for large-scale development. The 630,000 sq m scheme consists of four main components: a 133,000 sq m retail complex; two office towers totalling 273,000 sq m; a 350-room hotel with a ballroom and a roof-top restaurant, a large car park and back-of-house support facilities at lower ground levels. Public transport infrastructure to Yeouido is well developed.

There are three linked bridges to the main CBD, various bus lines and two main subway lines. The development will, potentially, be connected to the subway stations via new underground links. A local bus interchange will be located at the front entrance of the mall. When completed, the larger of the two towers will be one of the tallest office buildings in Seoul. The retail complex will also be one of the largest of its kind in Seoul, with seven levels of retail above ground, and two below ground. In addition, there will be an exhibition plaza on the ground level of the retail mall and a multi-purpose events space at level five. There will be four levels for parking, and one level for centralised plant operations. Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP), in conjunction with Samoo Architects & Engineers and Arup, were commissioned by Skylan Development to undertake ‘Concept Design to Construction Documentation’. Construction on site began in 2007 and an RSHP team is currently based in a project office in Seoul working on the construction documentation phase.p>
