Petrie Raymond's lease was coming to an end, and like many companies in the wake of the pandemic, telecommuting and shared workstations meant they wanted to reduce their rental square footage.

In collaboration with their broker, we assisted Petrie Raymond in their search for a new space by drawing up pre-leasing plans. Three scenarios were considered, and it was finally at 400 avenue Sainte-Croix that their choice was made. This former Provigo head office boasts two majestic glass roofs and is located at the intersection of two of Montreal's most important thoroughfares, highways 40 and 15.

Conceptum handled many aspects of the project. Concept, technical drawings, furniture selection, tendering with general contractors and site supervision. It was a very tight schedule, but we got it done!

Since the layout of the building means that the reception area doesn't face the main entrance, we had to find a way of attracting the eye and guiding visitors in a natural way. It is the role of the linear ceiling lights, installed in a staggered pattern, which create a sense of direction. For the concept, we drew direct inspiration from the accounting firm's logo and field of expertise, with the guiding principle of finance and all that goes with it.

The full or intersecting circles, solid or in fine lines, are reminiscent of coins. They are present in vinyl decals, felt and lighting fixtures. More abstractly, the tone-on-tone blue baguette walls in conference rooms could be reminiscent of a stack of coins. Did you notice the trompe-l'œil effect in the corridor? It's a very abstract representation of a coin sliding into a wallet!

The customer didn't want any carpets in these spaces. A variety of vinyl coverings were used, and cut-outs in the open areas evoke statistical graphs. The inspiration of the graphs was also taken up in a different, playful way in the multi-purpose room. A movable partition allows the cafeteria area to open onto this room, enabling both spaces to be used by a larger number of people. The result is dynamic, bright and warm space, thanks to the use of light wood and a variety of materials.
