The neighbourhood of Corso Lazio, in Frosinone, Italy, finally could enjoy its first public space, expected to be ready since 35 years. The struggle for Sensational Garden represents the starting point of a big master-plan to renew and integrate public spaces and services to the housing neighbourhood. This lack of public spaces generates an absolute degrade of the entire area. For this reason the project amplifies the idea of a relational space filling the social void with an explosive, playful, interactive intimate area, like a private and domestic living room into a public realm.

A 2500 m2 garden in which users and citizens could finally enjoy knowing eachother and making theirselves comfortable with the entire neighbourhood. Nabito Architects strategy was focused to obtain social sustainability. A continuous fight to respect citizens’ right to have their public space characterized the development of the building site. We verify a very big paradox: the commission was public, but the realisation was forced by our private will on “directing” city hall to accomplish its duty: the good of the community.

The Goal of the project is to invite users trough a path in which scenes are always changing. The user will do a series of different interactive experiences. Five big cones are the devices that explain the poetry of the senses metaphor. Each cone represents a sensorial experience and material and vegetation is related to them. The path through the cones is a discovery, and it was designed to reveal the space little by little, to encourage the experience. The constantly tension between artificial and natural elements makes the garden easy to maintain and at the same time durable and mutable during the time. The use of the Garden continues to be absolutely multiple. Recently Adidas film a Spot for skaters’ community.
