We are a small company based out of Austin,Texas providing design + build services from our specialization in studios to our 15+ year background in high-end residential construction. We have a very sustainable focus which drives every decision we make and has led us to structurally insulated panel (SIP panel) construction.
SIP panels offer a wide variety of benefits. SIP Panels consists of a consistent foamcore adhered to oriented strand board (OSB) sheathing on either side. These panels are made to size per project eliminating most of the construction waste encountered in wood framing. The panel acts as one complete structural unit allowing our studios to be highly customizable as we can punch our apertures for doors and windows in nearly any location and any fashion. The extremely consistent foamcore gives the SIP panel a uniform long term high insulation value. And the best advantage of SIP panel construction is that the wall assembly arrives in one piece and tilted up and secured in place, allowing for a very quick construction time.
Furthermore SIP panel construction allows our team to build every studio to the exacting custom specifications of our clients. The SIP panel is one large structural unit and this allows us to punch our apertures for doors, windows and skylights in nearly any fashion. Sett Studio has a wonderful lead designer who has been designing comfortable efficient spaces for over 12 years.
With the high integrity structure quickly constructed, the team at Sett Studio focus on sustainable quality finish materials. We have developed a modern shou-sugi-ban method to produce our handmade siding. By charring the wood, our siding becomes more resistant to pest and rot. We have developed techniques in our process of Shou-sugi-ban; and full Japanese tradition or wabi and sabi, reveal the beauty of the wood material we are working with by further exposing the grain patterns and even producing a texture of the grain patterns. Finished off with hand mixed VOC-free stains, we are able to produce a wide range of custom colors and textures to suit each project's aesthetic needs. The result is a high-quality, long-lasting siding which speaks for itself aesthetically.
