The design from BARCODE Architects for the new Taiwan Tower is characterized by its unique figure 8 shape, which creates an urban gate that does justice to the name “Taichung Gateway” and a sky gate that frames the sky and the surrounding mountains. This spectacular ‘double gate’ is a symbol for unity, infinity and prosperity and welcomes people from all wind directions to observe the progress and future ambition of Taiwanese and international society.

The tower shape subtly symbolizes the strength of this new development and the merging of Taichung City with Taichung County. It unifies traditional and historical Taiwanese values with new innovative technologies and ambitions. It links the rural areas with the urban cities and the countryside with the waterfront. The tower will be a national symbol with a welcoming recognizable representation to every direction: A new global landmark for an emerging nation.
