'Vim'- health & sport center, Israel ‘Vim’, is situated on main road to sea, Rishon lezion. Here is a site that fitness lovers can only dream of. 4400 sq. /m health and sport complex, hi designed in each and every corner of it. Design concept inspired from the world of yacht design rules and standards. Nir portal architects treated the huge space as a luxury ship using “no edge design”, to achieve soft fondling interiors and atmosphere. Main challenge was to draw layout that taking into account the variety of functions, such as gym, spa, pool, class rooms, showers area, coffee house and offices, and the complicated relations between all function. Some spaces instructed to be controlled while others like class rooms and coffee house designed to be free access. Lobby was design to be welcoming, large with a “city piazza” that her connecting “streets” are the entrances to main functions VIM hosts. That way reception can control all accesses to other spaces. Main desk inspired from hotel lobby reception, made of floating milk glass. One of “piazza” façades hosts the coffee house, which turns to be a place of unofficial meetings and gathering. As in all project coffee house walls are curved with no sharp angled corners, causing an effect of one functional space melting into the other. Showers and wardrobe areas situated in between spa and gym so both can use facilities and no need for double uses. Lockers are costume made of walnut wood fitting the irregular walls shape. Walls are all covered with bissaza mosaic tiles with floral touch different colors for male and female areas. Each shower has concrete bench for comfort and above cabin a cantilever black glass is hanged; each glass ceiling has a cutout for custom made head tap falling direct from gypsum ceiling. We even designed special lighted shelves in sinks area to match atmosphere we desired. Open Jacuzzi lifted above floor level to give higher views options, wrapped with curved brown flowers mosaic tiles, and marked from ceiling with circular suspended wood lighting. Spinning room inspired from cycle wheels designed with dramatic lighted stretched ‘barisol’ ceiling. Lights are color changing, connected to music system and operate according to music rhythmus. Spa has reception of its own and acts as an external profit unit. Design concept originally came from yacht design, all walls of public areas and corridor covered with white silk curtains to give ceremonial atmosphere and to raise the effectiveness of space acoustics. Communal sitting area became a sculptured sofa, giving several options for couples or groups to have a sit before entering their treatment.
