Fitness premium brand ‘Golds Gym’ situated in Starling mall, Sector – 104, Noida occupies approximately 7000 sq. Ft. The design brief was to create a robust functional environment that is both hard working and visually stimulating, which in many ways hasn’t changed throughout the years. However, the nature of the activity in terms of how people train has inevitably changed, and this brings opportunities to develop the design.
Given the grey and bustle of city, the immediate choice was to bring the entire material selection back to natural soft elements to create a sense of intimacy, pause and relaxation.
The central idea was to maintain a rustic look and leave more and more raw surfaces. IPS plastered walls with exposed services were skilfully designed to give a soothing environment. Bare concrete walls, exposed duct works, fire pipes, conduits and other industrial elements were combined with reclaimed light fittings and bespoke design features.
Polished plaster is used on the walls as a smooth texture, which textually compliments and contrasts the natural timber, which is warm and rustic. Timber is used in several spaces in both flooring and wall covering. It is extensively used in the entrance area and on the reception desk.
Talking about the additional features apart from the conventional work out area, the gym provides room for health and nutrition consultancy, physiotherapy, aerobics and yoga. We have provided specific area for personal lockers and segregated toilet blocks with steam facilities. Equally impressive are the spacious changing rooms, where guests can find steam therapy sessions with chillier showers. Owner’s cabin, pantry and store room are other essentials.
Asymmetrical ceiling battens have five primary bisecting lines which comprises of profile light stitched between them. The secondary battens dissect through these primary lines in random form. Rubber wood is used thoroughly over the ceiling, reception table, counter table tops and for wall cladding in director’s cabin.
Dual colour floor tiles are laid at a tilted angle which moves through the reception than to the further spaces in gym. These linear lines follow varied width with alternate colour tiles i-e grey and white. These vitrified tiles further merge with the vinyl and rubberised flooring in the same angular manner.
The walls are marked with profound inspirational quotes at ideal points which are statically placed to flash in front of the eyes of users. Deep orange – sunglow colour is used as the highlighting element for contrasting over the base tones. This colour is used over quotes – text, locker number initials, signage’s and the acrylic glow sign hanging over the ceiling in the cross-fit section of the gym.
Mirrors were installed intentionally to make the space look bigger than in real. They are framed in the Mild steel profile in the edges which exemplifies the raw essence of the space. The LED light beneath the frames evolves the floating form in the design.
The vertical partition is made in grid structure of aluminium frames. This maintains the inter-linkages, transparency and maintains the visual connectivity.
