At the northern end of Raiko Daskalov’s pedestrian walkway, this project breathes new life into the former National Bank, transforming it into a cultural hub that bridges the city’s historic and creative districts. Positioned between the Kapana Art District and key public landmarks, the building becomes a gateway to local heritage and a gathering place for the community.

At its heart is a grand central atrium, inspired by the intimate laneways of the Old Town. By removing aging upper floors, we reveal towering columns that enhance a sense of verticality, echoing classical architecture. A spiral staircase winds down into the basement gallery, symbolizing the city’s hidden layers of history waiting to be explored.

The space is designed to evolve—hosting exhibitions, designer markets, and creative studios. A rooftop terrace offers panoramic views, while a public square invites outdoor events, fostering a lively connection between people and place. LED screens integrated along the balustrades bring a modern pulse to the historic setting.

Careful restoration revives the building’s craftsmanship, from intricate facades to original ironwork, ensuring its story continues. Thoughtful phasing keeps parts of the building active during construction, balancing heritage with contemporary use.

More than just an arts venue, this is a home for ideas, conversations, and everyday life—a flexible space that adapts, welcomes, and inspires. With shops, events, and communal areas, it’s designed to sustain itself while strengthening its role as a cultural landmark for the city.
