Bookshelf # 17 was developed with the premise to occupy the necessary space, when necessary. Considered to be an extension of the wall when all shelves are closed, or when not being used, and opening the shelves as needed. It consists of 300x300mm shelves 20mm thick. They open by pressing the shelf slightly inward with one click on the magnetic bracket and close when raised in a vertical position and on an axis rotation. The shelves are extremely robust capable of withholding a shelf full of books.
Made up by multiple shelves, this bookcase can be designed in all sorts of different sizes, with no limitations in dimensions. Shelf # 17 has a thickness of 60mm and may have any height or width desired.
Bookshelf # 17 is designed in Fibreboard. It can be laminated with natural wood or lacquered. In this case white lacquered was chosen because it was intended to be a extension of the wall when put into place. The # 17 contains a hole in the rear and on the 4 vertices, it can be hung on the wall just like a painting, depending on the surface and on the hardware used.
This project took a long time to be developed (approximately one and a half years), particularly in the design phase regarding the opening of the shelves and the development of its resistance.
