Embodied carbon
Several strategies were undertaken to reduce the resort's environmental impact. The repurposing of 95% of existing materials significantly lowers embodied carbon from construction waste. The use of local materials further reduces transportation emissions, while energy-efficient lighting and sustainable materials minimize ongoing energy consumption. The resort’s green roofs and irrigation system also contribute to a more sustainable environment by helping to lower the need for artificial cooling and reducing overall water usage. Through these strategies, the Maxx Royal Bodrum Resort effectively reduces its carbon footprint, creating a sustainable and eco-conscious experience for guests while preserving the natural beauty of Bodrum.
Operational Emissions / Energy
GEO_ID prioritized sustainable materials and construction techniques, selecting durable, locally reflective options like natural wood cladding and custom-glazed ceramic tiles. Repurposed materials were used as aggregates to reduce waste. Energy-efficient LED lighting minimizes consumption and light pollution, aligning with LEED standards. Natural materials (wood, stone, eco-friendly ceramic) blend with Bodrum's landscape, ensuring a sustainable and durable aesthetic.
Key Sustainable Features:
- LEED-standard LED Lighting minimizes energy use and light pollution.
- Sustainable wood cladding responsibly sourced for warmth and durability.
- Green roof systems reduce energy use and enhance biodiversity.
- Recycled gray water irrigation conserves water and supports landscaping.
