Afterlife

The spatial layout of the Sweco office is designed around a flexible zoning structure that can accommodate different programmes without structural intervention. Partition walls and glass systems are fully demountable and relocatable, allowing the floor plan to be reconfigured as the organisation evolves. The routing logic and open work zones are not tied to a single programme, making the interior suitable for other tenants or uses without requiring demolition or significant rebuilding.

Disassembly was a guiding principle throughout the project. Carpet tiles by Tarkett (Recharge and Grezzo) are Cradle to Cradle Silver® certified and fully recoverable at end of life. All custom joinery by RTR is demountable, with no adhesive connections, enabling full material separation. Glass partition systems consist of 70% recycled aluminium and are designed for relocation or reuse. Loose furniture is manufactured without glued joints for the same reason. Curtains are magnetically fixed and fully removable. Marmoleum flooring by Forbo is made from 98% natural raw materials and is climate positive across its full lifecycle. Together, these choices ensure that at end of use, materials can re-enter the circular economy rather than become waste.
