Afterlife
Urban Weaving was conceived as a temporary yet durable installation, designed to outlive its initial deployment on Place Bellecour. The structure is fully demountable and transferable, allowing it to be reinstalled in different urban contexts.
Rather than being tied to a single program, the project operates as a flexible urban device: its lightweight timber arches and textile canopies can be adapted to host various uses such as public gathering spaces, shaded walkways, cultural events, or climate-responsive installations.
This approach ensures that the project remains relevant beyond its first life cycle, offering a reusable and adaptable solution for improving urban comfort in different cities and environments.
The project is based on a reversible construction system, minimizing permanent interventions and allowing for efficient disassembly.
The primary reusable components include the timber structural arches, the technical textile canopies, and associated assembly elements. These components are modular, lightweight, and assembled using non-destructive connections, enabling their reuse either in their original configuration or in new spatial arrangements.
This strategy reduces construction waste and extends the lifespan of materials, positioning the project as a reproducible and low-impact urban intervention aligned with circular economy principles.
