Afterlife

The clubhouse was designed with change in mind. A sports club is never static: membership, patterns of use and spatial requirements may evolve over time. The building therefore has a clear structural and spatial organisation that allows for future adaptation and extension without losing the principles of the original design.

Several future scenarios were explored during the design process to test how both the building and the wider site could evolve alongside the club. Rather than defining one fixed future state, the design provides a robust framework that can accommodate changing needs over time.

Yes. The timber structure is based on dry, demountable connections, allowing individual components to be disassembled, adapted and potentially reused in a future configuration or another building.

This approach extends the lifespan of both the building and its components. Circularity is therefore not limited to the use of timber as a renewable material: the way the building is assembled also considers what can happen to its components in a next life cycle.
