Afterlife

Yes. The house was conceived with a flexible spatial structure that can adapt to different ways of living over time. By concentrating the structural system at the extremities of the building, the interior is kept free, allowing spaces to be reconfigured without major structural interventions. Although designed as a private residence, this flexibility allows the floorplan to accommodate different domestic programs and future uses, extending the building’s lifespan beyond its original brief.

Several elements were conceived as independent components that can potentially be dismantled, reused, or replaced over time, including the steel solar screens, timber cabinetry, steel elements, and other non-structural finishes. The use of distinct and durable materials also allows individual components to be maintained or replaced without compromising the main structural system. The exposed concrete and natural stone, in contrast, were conceived as long-lasting elements intended to remain part of the building throughout its lifespan.
