House Between Trees
This part single, part two storey is a single unified form, inserted into the established, formal neighbourhood structure, in the front garden of a 1930’s Strain House. A diagonal ridge creates two triangular roof planes, with a triangular reclining roof window and a large overhang on the south. Red brick, render and clay roof tiles match the surrounding houses but are used in contemporary form. Recesses are made in the exterior: at the front to form the entrance, and at the rear to create a sheltered dining space. Diverse internal spaces are created by this dynamic roof form and rich interiors created by the use of crafted joinery and interconnecting spaces. More
